Interesting place with an eclectic collection of art. Not quite what I suspected but a pleasant surprise all the same. Keep an eye out for the warnings in particular gallery sections if you are not keen on the 'shock factor'. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Wonderful place to spend the day. The cafe has good food and ambience. The gallery itself is spectacular and needs many hours to explore. I wish I could have spent days here! The gift shop has a great selection too.

Went to the Tate exhibition but half the works weren't from The Tate. That said, there were some incredible works. Cafe is not recommend with poor service and limited vegan choices. Parking free on weekends but if you haven't been before, signage is very poor and easy to get lost.

Definitely a stand out among Canberra's many tourist attractions. Living in Canberra, this is one of the few I return to regularly and enjoy every time. It houses many exhibits at once, rotating frequently, so you'll probably find something for everyone. Certainly, it is not just paintings or for art buffs. It contains famous works by many famous artists (e.g. Pollock, Picasso, Monet). It has Australian art and Aboriginal art. It usually has a selection of Pacific Islander art and artifacts and frequent cultural exhibits from around the world and throughout time. Objects from art deco and modern art installations are also commonly on display. There is a sculpture garden outside beside the lake. Entry to everything is free except for one major exhibit, typically containing themed items on loan with a guided tour and audio tour. There is a kids play area with creative activities. It accommodates for mobility impaired people. There is a choice of cafes. Paid underground parking and other parking available in the district. Nice toilets and parents room. Lovely staff and enthusiastic volunteers. Gee, even the gift shop is a step above the rest.

Lovely building full of interesting and often beautiful exhibits. Largely free of charge (exceptions for special exhibits). Nice gift shops with a mix of souvenirs and actual items you might find in shops. Expansive and scenic grounds with more art and some really impressive features, like the misters next to the pond.
